Serve your community while networking with local Eastern alumni! On Saturday, April 19, as people here pitch in for the sixth straight year to help around Charleston, alumni volunteers across the country will be improving their own communities. Projects vary from conducting food drives to preparing abandoned animals for adoption.
Want to get involved? You can find a complete listing of Panther Service Day locations and projects here.
Ralph Stanley, a bluegrass pioneer most widely known for his Grammy-winning work on the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack, is set to perform with his band, the Clinch Mountain Boys, at this year's Celebration. The concert, set for 6:30 p.m. April 26, is free.
The festival, a tradition on Eastern's campus since 1977, will take over the Library Quad on April 25-27.
Celebration gives visitors the opportunity to meet artists, buy art, enjoy food and hear a variety of music. Visit the Celebration Web site for more information.
Greek Sing, Airband and Coronation took place this past weekend, but Tugs and other events are going on throughout this week. Keep tabs on the results on the Greek Week Web site.
Ted Gregory '81 and his fellow Chicago Tribune reporters have won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize in Investigative Reporting for their coverage of unsafe toys and children's products.
