Alumni Spotlight: Ronald W. Davis '64
Due to struggling with a form of dyslexia, Ronald W. Davis '64 was encouraged by a high school counselor to avoid science classes. He ignored that advice and went on to complete requirements for four majors (chemistry, physics, math and botany) in four years at EIU.
Now, Davis is a Stanford University professor known as a pioneer in molecular genetics and genomics. He recently received the 2011 Gruber Genetics Prize (.pdf link), including $500,000, for his groundbreaking work.
