Larry Shobe '67, whose friendliness during Bill Perry's "secret shopper" campus visit helped convince Perry to accept the EIU presidency, is known throughout campus for his demeanor and his green thumb.
The campus groundskeeper recently talked to the Journal Gazette/Times-Courier about the path that led him to the job he loves. Click here for the story.
A rare tropical plant, the Titan Arum, is producing its first flower at EIU under the watchful eye of the H.F. Thut Greenhouse manager, Steven Malehorn '91, '93. The Titan Arum, also called the "corpse flower" because of its foul odor, has blossomed just more than 100 times in the world outside of its natural environment. For details on the EIU plant, including updated photos, click here.
