"Mac, Jurko & Harry," a radio show co-hosted by John Jurkovic '90 on ESPN 1000 AM in Chicago, will broadcast live from the EIU-alumni-owned Charleston's Bar & Grill in New Lenox on Friday, Jan. 23.
Don't let the EIU connections stop there – head out to the show from 2-6 p.m. Send us pictures, and they might end up in a future issue of this newsletter!

With Valentine's Day only a month away, it's the perfect time to look for love — on national television! That's what New York City entrepreneur Amelia Heape '94 is doing, with the help of the author of a book called "Love in 90 Days."
Amelia's quest will be shown each Thursday through March on "The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet" on the Fox News Channel. Click here to view some of the first segment.

- Bruce DeRuntz '85, associate professor of technology in Southern Illinois University Carbondale's College of Engineering, was one of 20 fellows recently elected to the American Society for Quality.
- Kathy Orbin '73, whose 23 years in administration included time as chair of the NCAA Division I National Softball Committee, has retired as associate athletic director at Western Illinois University.

- Jeff James '90, '91 recently became CEO of Wilmington Health Associates in North Carolina.
- Virgil Sweet '50, '57, an "Indiana high school coaching legend" known nationally for his technique of teaching free-throw shooting, was honored at his high school.
back to top  Legacy Scholarships available for descendants of Eastern alumni
Applications for the 2009-2010 Legacy Scholarships will be accepted by the Alumni Services office through Feb. 13. To be eligible, an applicant must be the child or grandchild of an Eastern graduate and must begin attending the university during the 2009 fall semester.

The Black Student Reunion is over, but thanks to technology, old and new connections can continue indefinitely! Jonetta Kibble ’95 has created an online social-networking group called African American Alumni of Eastern Illinois University — click here to join.
By the way, it's worth noting that more than 600 alumni came back to campus this past fall for the Black Student Reunion, which raised more than $6,000 for scholarships to EIU recruit and retain students of color. Way to go, alumni!
