Qualifications: a high school diploma/GED plus three years experience in database architecture, logical and physical design, automation, documentation, backup & recovery, monitoring, and database and query tuning or an Associate’s Degree in an IT-related field and two years of the above experience or a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.

Preferred Skills: strong problem solving skills, strong interpersonal communication skills, self-directed with good organizing and planning skills, supportive of standards, be an effective participant in a client-focused team environment, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate clearly and effectively, ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities, willingness to work in a 24 x 7 environment including on-call status, and be a self-starter with willingness to do independent research and trouble shooting.

Preferred Requirements: possessing five or more years experience with database systems and other systems such as: UNIX/Linux, Oracle 10g, Oracle 11g, Backup/Recovery strategies using RMAN, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SQL Server DBA, Oracle Streams, Shell Scripting, PLSQL, and Higher Ed experience with Sungard Banner.
